Into the Window – Adventures with Icons

“Into the Window” is a new Eastern Mennonite University art exhibit featuring EMU professor Jerry Holsopple’s icon writing and multimedia presentations. The show opens Saturday, December 4th at 4PM in our brand new Margaret Martin Gehman Art Gallery. Jerry spent the 2009-2010, academic year as a Fulbright scholar in Lithuania teaching photography, film and culture and religious studies at LCC International University. He also studied the traditional art of icon writing with a Russian Orthodox priest. Jerry came to the experience with no studio art background – and thus began a year-long adventure in faith, creativity and trust.

Below is Visual and Communication Arts student Kelby Miller’s video piece called “Perspective”  which depicts Jerry’s process of writing icons.
